As a Made in USA leather handbag designer, Brynn Capella handbags are featured on Etsy. In my first month of interning I have learned a lot about what goes into an Etsy shop, the good and the bad.
Every week I upload a handful of bags that are on sale on the Brynn Capella website. We found out that Etsy shoppers are looking for some good deals so our sale bags would be the best option. We also run weekly sales on certain styles as well as free shipping to draw more customers in.
So what’s the problem you may be asking? Sales just aren’t coming in as we had hoped they would. We are constantly active uploading products, changing the title names, adding tags to appear in searches, etc. Our views and visits have gone up slightly, but no sales since I’ve started.
We are really trying to get to the bottom of this so I always go on my Etsy account and do searches for leather bags (you name it I’ve typed it in) and it is hard to locate them. The only way I can find them is by typing in almost the exact title that we made or search for Brynn Capella.
We have come to a conclusion that maybe our leather handbags are priced too high for the Etsy consumer or we can’t compete with other Etsy vendors because Etsy is their main source of business whereas we sell from our website and through boutiques. So what do you all think of buying/selling on Etsy? Is it for designers just starting out or is it beneficial to have both to gain exposure to various audiences?
