This past weekend, we had an outdoor photo shoot for Brynn’s upcoming Fall 2018 collection. Although I have helped plan fashion shows and work back stage getting the models ready in the past, this was a new adventure for me. Let me tell you, behind the scenes of a photo shoot is very different than a fashion show.
Getting ready for a photo shoot takes A LOT of prepping and planning. You have to make sure the outfits are paired with the right bags, that each model gets a good mix of styles and leather colors AND that the outfit will fit and look good on her!
One thing I took from this experience was BE READY FOR CHANGE. What do I mean by this? The things you plan for may change on a dime and you just have to work with what you got. Everything happens in the moment, expect outfits to be switched, ideas to be altered and the occasional, “What are you guys taking pictures for?” by strangers walking by.
The mood of this photoshoot was inspired by the rugged outdoors, equestrian and wide open spaces. So we thought it would be perfect to take a picture with a jeep. Luckily, one of our models drove a jeep. We planned this pose up against, what we thought would be a forest green jeep, but that quickly changed when we saw the bright orange jeep pull up to the photoshoot. In no time, we had the outfits and bags changed to fit the color scheme better.
The fast pace of working behind the scenes is exhilarating. You quickly learn to work fast but you get to see all your hard work and planning come together. Learning how to overcome little road blocks is extremely important, because the things you do not expect to happen will happen. Between the crazy midwest weather changes (thank goodness we found a 60 degree day in June to work with) along with trying to coordinate three interns, the photographer, the designer and two models, shopping and coordinating 30 looks, we pulled everything together in three short days. After looking back, it was such fun experience to be apart of.
I can’t wait for all of you to see Brynn’s amazing fall line in August!
