Is Social Media changing our world as we know it?
It is absolutely crazy the way social media has completely changed our culture. I remember when Facebook was the cool new thing and people only went on it once a week. How crazy the way times have changed! Not only has social media grown to a level where people check in with their friends several times a day on several media, but it has evolved into a melting pot for businesses to connect with their customers.
But let’s be real, it’s the stars who call the shots.
Celebrities have got on the bandwagon and made their own accounts that make the general public go NUTS! Instagram and Twitter especially give people a snapshot into celebrities’ lives. Everyone seems so interested in what the Kardashians are up to, what new hairstyle Miley Cyrus is sporting, or what amazing outfit Taylor Swift was just spotted wearing. Truth be told, however, we are even envious of Taylor Swift and how she has created a close relationship with her fans through social media.
And Twitter has been relegated to a source for people to read and share news stories, even between people who may have never even connected before. Will newspapers and magazines become obsolete only to be replaced by news stories that are captured in 140 characters or less? And don’t get me started on Pinterest, Snapchat and YouTube.
Instagram has recently become our favorite! It is a place where we can give people a snapshot into the lives of a small business built from the ground up. It’s not just about our handbags, we like to showcase our #caturday picutres and our adventures around the city, we like to show people what we are all about.
As a small business, we love being able to create the essential relationship with customers via style tips, similar experiences, and everyday life on our social media. And I’m interested to see what you think! What’s your favorite media to post on? We love feedback and truly enjoy staying connected!
