5 Tips to Get Summer Ready

Summer Tips

Even though summer may feel like it’s light years away, the temperature has already started to go up. Before you know it, you’ll be packing a beach bag, grabbing your towel for the pool, and trekking to those huge summer concerts. Before my schedule gets jammed packed with things to do, it’s my goal to get summer ready. I want to swap out my darker knits for brighter ones and I want my hair to scream “I’m one of those girls from the Herbal Essences commercials and I love my hair!”

Try these 5 tips to help you be ready for Summer:

11. Pick a fun nail color.

Choosing a bright, bold nail polish for the summer will immediately update your style. OPI always has the freshest colors (and the cutest names!). Their Spring/Summer 2015 collection, Hawaii, has bright, exotic colors, sure to make you think of summer getaways. (We bet they had just as much fun thinking of their color names as we did for our Island Girl collection!)

22. Purge old makeup.

Summer is the perfect time to get rid of your old makeup. Certain beauty products have a shelf life and once it gets past that time, they’re no longer good to use. As soon as you toss your old makeup, feel free to treat yourself to a lighter weight foundation. A light weight foundation will hide those pesky spots while allowing your skin to breathe a lot better. Meaning… less clogged pores!

33. Use sunscreen!

I guess Mom was always right, lather up before you leave the house. Even when it’s not extremely sunny out, UV rays can still soak into your skin. Even if your like me and rarely burn, you can still be affected. Just play it safe and put that sunscreen on!

54. Try leave-in conditioner.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, dry air “like the stuff that pumped out of your heaters all winter, and that whipped your strands on the mountain – leaves hair brittle and more prone to breakage.” To keep your hair looking lush and shiny, try using a leave-in conditioner with jojoba, shea butter, and avocado oil. Your hair needs some lovin’ too!

45. Swap out your big bag for a smaller one.

Why carry a bunch of stuff that you don’t need?? A smaller bag, like the Nikki, is the perfect size because it’s still small while allowing you to store all of your necessities. The Coconut is also the perfect bone color, allowing the bag to go with any outfit!
