5 Trends To Look Out For This Spring

What is everyone wearing this season? Well a little birdie told us these are going to be some of the big hits on the streets . . .

white on whiteMonochromatic White

With months until Labor Day, take advantage of this timeless trend from now through the Summer! From your head to your toes; White hat, white top, white pants and even white shoes. One of the tricks of the trend is to make sure all of the pieces in your outfit are the same tint of white, otherwise, part of your outfit could look dirty… even though you just picked it up from the dry cleaners’ yesterday.

Bonus: The allover white will contrast with your sun-kissed skin, making you look more tan (score!)

Summer-Street-Style Gingham dressGingham

This print is so versatile! Gingham print is the perfect match for the gal that’s willing to do some pattern mixing (like this) or even just add a tiny bit of spice to your minimalist outfit. This print has been popular in the past making debuts as trousers, but more recently it has branched out into the button-down and dress categories. Pull it off in a black and white print, or go bold with a fun-colored gingham!

Bonus: With Black and White Gingham, you can add any of our colored bags from the Island Girl Collection for a beautiful pop of color.

Need I say more? Though a little unoriginal for Spring, the season of blooms, it has been turned up a notch by being full of color and flavor. This Spring, florals are growing into every closet in a bold and vibrant way. This blooming trend can be worn as shorts, pants, blouses, matching separates – you name it! The bolder, the better. You’ll look youthful, stylish and fresh (see what I did there?) sporting this oh-so-spring look.

lbd and gladiatorGladiator Sandals

This season, it’s all about lacing up, and “owning” your inner Aphrodite. This trend is not only found in the flat style like any ancient Greece we would normally think of, but also in pumps and wedges. Not feeling like going all Greek with this trend? You can adapt it into your sandal wardrobe by wearing different heights – full on up to the knee, or halting near the ankle.

(I love how she wears the gladiator trend with a little black dress! it’s a great way to adapt the trend into things you already have in your wardrobe.)

olivia palermoFringe

This trend is not just for the bohemian beauty or the rock n’ roll diva. Anyone can throw a little fringe with any outfit to give it a little edge. Pick it up with your shoes, a bag, a skirt, or even a jacket (if you’re feeling super fringy) and you’ll understand why this trend has made it through at least two other seasons of fashion. It’s fun and really, age-blind in any way you choose to tackle it.

(I’m loving how Olivia Palermo accessorizes with fringe just enough to follow trend, but pairs it with an overall simple silhouette to let the accessories have the spotlight.)

Style it your way. Happy Spring!
