New Year Style Resolutions

1) Up your style quotient

Find something that makes you stand out.  As they say “Fashion can be bought.  Style one must posses.”  The easiest place to start is with accessories. They can add a lot of style to your wardrobe. A beautiful pair of shoes, jewelry or a handbag can make the simplest outfit stand out.  You can subscribe to fashion print magazines, follow fashion blogs, or even join style communities.  But don’t let them dictate what your style is or isn’t.  Look at them as a collage of ideas.  Keep an eye out for trending styles, but remember most super trendy items only last one season, pay less for those items or simply avoid them all together.  Life is too short to always be a fleeting trend!

2) Wear color more often

Find a color that looks great on you.  Pantone puts out a color of the year but that doesn’t mean it has to be yours.  This color doesn’t have to be bright or ostentatious, but will add a pop to your neutral pieces and pair well with other colors.  Handbags and tops are the best way to test it out.  You’ll know your color, as everyone will comment.  Plus, wearing color is proven to boost your mood, for when the winter blues hit you. Once the weather begins to warm up, it seems to be human nature to start to bring out pretty colors and patterns as well.  So, why not start testing it out now?

3) Invest in a quality handbag that’s classic & timeless in style

Find a handbag that works for everyday and then some. Everyone knows about the CPW, “Cost Per Wear” calculator.  Don’t be the one that thinks that $100 handbag is going to last. Either it’s made of Faux leather or super thin leather that won’t stand the test of time. But also don’t be the one that buys the same handbag that everyone else (and their mother) has.  Boring.   We get it, every season presents the temptation to load up on all the latest trends that may not offer the best return on your investment.  But that doesn’t mean you have to spend a pretty penny to cultivate a closet with significant style. Instead, think of an investment piece in terms of its versatility and value when it comes to making you look your best, on more occasions than one.
AND this is where the combination comes into play, don’t only look at a black or brown handbag as your go-to investment piece.  Play with a few other colors first and you might just surprise yourself.
