Sure, when you think of coconut you think of Pina Coladas and pies, but did you know that there are over 100 different uses for the oil of the yummy stuff?  Go to Trader Joe’s and buy a jar of this and you’ll not only be the most moisturized and best smelling woman in town, but you’ll also have a happier bank account. It’s time to rid yourself of your weekly Target trips where you spend too much money on a plethora of health/beauty supplies.  This is everything you could possibly want in one jar for only $5.99.

Here’s 10 ways you can use it:

1.) LOTION

After your shower slather it on and let the oil set in to the skin. You’ll feel moisturized all day!

2.) HAIR MASK

Apply all over dry hair (or if you’re like me and have super oily hair, avoid applying near your scalp and focus on applying it to your ends) then throw on a shower cap. If you don’t have a shower cap, wrap your hair up with Saran wrap or use an old, cotton t-shirt. Leave it on for 3o minutes, then wash it out with shampoo. It might take a couple of washes to get all of the oil out. No conditioner necessary this time! Your hair will be super soft and shiny.

3.) MAKEUP REMOVER

The oil functions as a great eye makeup remover.

4.) LIP BALM/GLOSS

Apply a layer to your dry, chapped lips and you’ll immediately feel like all of the moisture has been restored. Apply a more generous amount for a high-gloss look.

5.) VEGETABLE OIL SUBSTITUTE

Use as a replacement for vegetable oil in any recipe.

6.) SHAVING CREAM/AFTER SHAVE

7.) WEIGHT LOSS

When consumed daily, it can help speed up weight loss. Take 1-2 tbsp. daily. If you don’t feel like you can eat it raw like that, mix it in with your coffee or tea. It works as a great creamer as well.

8.) TOOTHPASTE

Combine it with baking soda for an all-natural toothpaste. Baking soda is one of the key catalysts in teeth whitening, and the coconut oil fights gum diseases and kills bacteria.

9.) BAKING

Think vanilla cake. Now think of a vanilla cake made with coconut oil. Sounds to die! Use the oil as a substitute for shortening, butter, or any other oil for a lighter, sweeter tasting dessert.

10.) LEATHER CLEANER/SOFTENER

Coconut oil uses also include cleaning and moisturizing leather. To use coconut oil on leather simply put a small amount of it on a soft cloth and wipe the leather down. The oil will not only clean the leather, it will help moisturize it and help to prevent cracking. Coconut oil is great for leather jackets, pants, skirts, vests, shoes, boots and even furniture.

Convinced enough? Try it out! Let us know what you think.
