Creating a Handbag

IMG_1730Hi! Everyone,

My name is Brenda Favela and I am the design assistant for Brynn Capella Inc. So I am excited to share with you a little glimpse of what happens behind the curtain in the design department. It is amazing to see the process of how the beautiful handbags come to be.

First we have to decide if we are designing a new bag or updating a current one.  Right now we are doing both!

We love the Allison handbag shape but wanted to update it with a more modern feel. So this is what we did.

We started by creating a flat illustration, but it just didn’t quite translate exactly.  What we needed was a three dimensional view for it to come to life.

So, we decided to draw out the sample skeleton of the bag, then cut and sew it.  We knew we wanted a single strap, but wanted it to curve with the bag.  That is how we decided on the shape of the handle.804726_2807262116013_1457978910_n

For functionality, we added a back outside zipper pocket. For design, we updated the handle and added 30 studs to the bottom piece of the bag which makes it look very fab. I just love it!

We though it would look amazing in Red, Green, Black and we have not decided if we want to do the Allison in  Brown or Grey Leather. What do you think?

Below is a new 3D illustration of the Allison bag for the contractor.  We are also working on a new handbag…Check in next week to see what it’s all about.Allison-frontAllison-back

So let us know what you think!
